Every year, state programs recognize exemplary landowners as well as inspecting foresters and program volunteers. 

CONGRATULATIONS FLOYD VANZANT: 2024 JON GOULD FLORIDA OUTSTANDING TREE FARMER OF THE YEAR!

The Florida Tree Farm Program is proud to recognize Mr. Floyd Vanzant as the 2024 Jon Gould Florida Outstanding Tree Farmer of the Year. Each year, a certified Tree Farm out of the 1,300 in Florida, is selected for demonstrating exceptional forest stewardship to protect and improve our forest resources and promoting forest stewardship within their community. About Jon Gould 

Florida’s Outstanding Tree Farmer of the Year Award honors the memory of Mr. Jon Gould, a respected member of Florida’s Tree Farm Program State Committee and a proud Tree Farmer and advocate for forestry for more than 30 years throughout the southeast. Mr. Gould was selected as the Florida Outstanding Tree Farmer of the Year in 2006 and as the Southern Regional Outstanding Tree Farmer of the Year in 2018. Mr. Gould passed in 2019. However, his legacy lives as an ultimate model of the Tree Farm Program for which the Florida award is now renamed beginning in 2020. About Glen Harris

Florida's Outstanding Tree Farmer Inspector of the Year award honors Glen Harris. Glen was employed with the forest industry and was active in the leadership of the Florida Tree Farm Program in the mid 1990s and into the 2000s. He worked closely with the Florida Forest Service County Foresters during his time to get inspections caught up, and was effective at recruiting the leadership that would sustain and grow the Progam in the years to follow. Glen won the National Tree Farm Inspector of the Year Award in 1999.
