The Montana Tree Farm System's mission is to promote the growing of renewable forest resources on private lands while protecting environmental benefits, increasing public understanding of all the benefits of productive forestry and raising the level of knowledge about natural resource issues as related to forestry management.
Montana Tree Farm Membership Criteria:
- Own 10 or more forested acres
- Maintain a current forest stewardship or management plan adhering to the Tree Farm Standards of Sustainability for Forest Certification
- Participate in recertification process at least once every five years.
- If selected, proudly represent Montana's Tree Farm program in the national third-party assesment process

The Montana Tree Farm System is part of the American Tree Farm System, a nationwide community of 74,000 landowners sustainably managing 24 million acres of forest land.
