The American Forest Foundation's National Leadership Conference is an opportunity for leaders, influential individuals, and advocates for family forest owners to connect directly in ways that empower them to strengthen and grow conservation impact on family forest lands. Participants share their challenges, strategies, tactics, and successes, ultimately leaving with a sense of connection, motivation, and enhanced capabalities. Mentoring other landowners from all different backgrounds, engaging in advocacy and outreach, and organizing and strengthening networks are the actions we hope to see as a result.

Tuesday March 11

  • Morning: Optional Tour - Historic Portland Landmarks & Tastes of Maine
  • Afternoon: Opening & General Sessions 

Wednesday March 12

  • Concurrent Sessions 
  • Award Presentations 
  • Keynote Address from Mirna Valerio, aka "The Mirnavator", Ultrarunner and Vermont Family Forest Owner!
  • Breakouts 
  • Evening Networking Reception 

Thursday March 13

  • Morning Sessions 
  • Closing Address (adjourn by 12pm)

  • Room rate:  $133/night (plus tax)

Transportation

  • Portland International Jetport (PWM) is the closest major airport
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) MAY provide more cost/schedule flexibility - approx 2 hour drive from Portland
  • There is NO shuttle from PWM airport to the hotel.
  • Taxi or rideshare (Uber, Lyft, etc.) is the most direct option
