2017 Wyoming State Inspector of the Year
Without Dick's dedication the Wyoming Tree Farm program would not have expanded to what it is today. During his life and career Dick has built many good relationdships with the forested landowners in the northeastern corner of Wyoming, and his local knowledge of the area has provided him with a beneficial background to assist landowners in their forest management.
Dick has been our lead inspector throughtout the past few years as the Wyoming Tree Farm Committee has been stimulating the Wyoming Tree Farm program to new heights. Dick has completed sixty percent of the inspections in Wyoming over the past five years. In addition he has stepped up to be our Inspection Chairman to help guide other inspecting foresters. Dick volunteered to be our first Wyoming ATFS Facilitator, and is still our active facilitator, mentoring our inspecting foresters with implementing the 2015-2020 Standards of Sustainability.
Dick, and Bernie, Dick's wife, have been Tree Farm and Forest Stewardship landowners themselves for twenty-five years. As a Tree Farm/Stewardship landowner, as well as a Professional Forester, Dick has gained a lot of experienced knowledge and openly shares that knowledge in his professional and personal life through both professional outreach, as well as thru private landowner, neighbor to neighbor outreach. It does not matter the hat he is wearing he has something to share to help guide the situation.
Dick is also a member of the Society of American Foresters (SAF) and International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). In addition he also sets on the Black Hills National Forest Advisory Board and the Rocky Mountain Coordinating Group-Operations Commitee to represent the State of Wyoming.
